Hey there Hipsters!
Lets work on our tight, grissled, and motion hording hip and hip capsule today!! If someone were to ask me what my Goat was in mobility, my hips would probably scream with their little high pitched voice me me me!!! For all you immobile, buttwinking, grungy, hip neglectors out there lets admit our weakness and regain efficiency through our hips.. (I meant that in the nicest way possible) I don't know if this applies to you but it is something everyone can work on! Today I want to give you a piece from Mobility WOD that gets nice and deep into the hip to promote external rotation during our squat. BAM!! K-Star just did a fabulous video on opening up the hips to allow us to drive the knees outward so we can fight for the upward torso in the squat. Watch enjoy and work on those hips today!! Test and retest with air squats!

"It is better for you to take responsibility for your life as it is, instead of blaming others, or circumstances, for your predicament. As your eyes open, you’ll see that your state of health, happiness, and every circumstance of your life has been, in large part, arranged by you – consciously or unconsciously." – Dan Millman

Stay Positive! Establish Motivation!

Posted by MAKING PROGRESS On Saturday 0 comments

Everyday brings on new challenges, some more difficult than others. Keeping motivation high is vital to staying in the fight. It is easy to allow ourselfs to feel sorry for or make excuses about our situations, trust me I fall into this as well. Life demands us to be everyday people! It is time we take control of our own realities and make strides toward positive rehabilitation. Why not make motivation? I want everyone who reads this post to close their eyes and think about something they are fighting for. Think about the path you will take to win this fight, what sacrifices you must make, habbits you will leave behind, and addictions you must face. Taking on challenges and fighting is a part of life that we can be motivated about or crumble when adversity arises. If you feel comfortable post your fight and get motivated to win in your battle right now!

Before deciding to do something think about it as if you are signing your name to it. Everything we do has our name stamped right on the surface for everyone to see. What type of work are you puting your name on. Do the best you can!!

"Motivation is established when presented with a challenge that one cannot complete with ease."

Continue Success,

Matthew Bryant

The Benefits of Massage Therapy for Athletic Performance

Posted by MAKING PROGRESS On Thursday 0 comments
Massage Therapy is one of the oldest, most traditional forms of healing. For thousands of years, and through many cultures, Massage Therapy has been a powerful healing tool. Think of the last time you had a sore foot or bumped your elbow. What was your first reaction? To rub it, right?

Touch is our natural reaction to pain. Based on this, and many scientific results, Massage Therapy is a natural and effective means of healing. Beyond just ‘rubbing sore muscles’ – which is very beneficial in itself – massage also increases circulation, decreases blood pressure, increases oxygen & nutrients to body tissues, decreases stress levels and increases immunity, just to name a few benefits. So for any of you out there with no pain or tension, there are still many benefits to receiving a regular massage treatment.

But really, what does all this mean in ‘real terms’ for you as an athlete? Increasing circulation will aid in moving toxins through your body to be quickly eliminated so they don’t become stagnant. This will decrease post workout soreness because the lactic acid build up will be filtered through your body faster. With less post workout soreness, the next time you train you will be able to push yourself harder, therefore, increasing the effectiveness of your training. Moving toxins through your body more rapidly allows for oxygen and nutrients to come to our muscles and tissues sooner as well. So not only will the lactic acid and other toxins be removed sooner, the oxygen and fresh nutrients that we need for our muscles tissues will arrive sooner, allowing our bodies to function at optimal performance.

If you have an injury preventing you from training, we can help with that as well. A specific treatment to the injured area will decrease pain and inflammation, which will decrease recovery time and have you back training sooner than not having treatment.

Massage therapy can also be beneficial during a competition or event. Before your event, massage can warm up your muscles and stimulate your body so you feel ready to compete. Between events, massage can flush out any toxins, stretch muscles and stimulate your body again, for the next event. After your competition the benefits are obvious; flush the body of all toxins built up from the competition, stretch the muscles used, decrease any pain and tension in the muscles to prevent soreness and injury following your competition.

Massage therapy could be and added asset to your training and performance goals. Why not get a massage today?

Welcome to my Blog!

Hey Everybody! My name is Matt. I am happy you are here to check things out, if you have any questions about anything feel free to e-mail me.

I would love to use this as a vehicle to express my passion for an open minded lifestyle involving fitness, nutrition, and understanding oneself for anyone that would like to take a look or have input.

The goal is to create a functional group of different perspectives and produce positive results through motivation, generosity, kindness, and experiences.

Here is a little about myself as a CrossFitter and Coach.

My devotion to CrossFit started after being exposed to the program by a friend. Like most new to CrossFit, my first experiences were very humbling and quite motivating. Through daily experiences with  programming, I push myself as hard as I push my clients, seeking elite fitness right alongside them.

My passion for both teaching and participating in fitness provides a motivating and effective training environment, and I will stop at nothing to make sure everyone is directed in a positive manner toward their goals. One of my goals along the way is to make it fun!

This passion has taken me to Scottsdale Arizona where I have James Fitzgerald as a Coach and continue to learn from some of the best in the field.

I enjoy learning from every experience!
